The Superior High School boys basketball team has lost two consecutive games since their season opening win. They fell to the Fairbury Jeffs, 60-50, at Fairbury, last Tuesday. The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines handed the Wildcats a 47-30 loss at Superior last Tuesday. Superior hosted Blue Hill at the high school gymnasium Tuesday with game results unavailable at press time.
Superior clawed their way back from a 16-point first quarter deficit to trial Fairbury 29-26 at the midway point of the game. They trailed by one point, 44-43, going into the final period of play. They were unable to sustain their momentum and were left with a 60-50 loss for their effort.
Wilber-Clatonia led the entire way against Superior, holding a 26-13 lead after two quarters of play. Superior fell short in their comeback efforts as they saw their record go to 1-2 with the 47-30 loss.
Colten Butler scored 16 points against Fairbury while Jacob Meyer netted 15 points. Tanner Theis came up with nine points. Ashton Grassman accounted for six points. Roscoe Baumbach and Theo Mathis provided two points apiece. Baumbach hit the boards for eight rebounds. Theis garnered five rebounds, Dayne Clark added four rebounds. Grassman and Meyer tallied two rebounds each. Butler had a rebound.
Butler topped the Wildcat scoring chart against Wilber-Clatonia with 15 points. Baumbach hit for eight points. Grassman listed six points for the game. Theis sank a free throw for one point. Baumbach and Grassman produced four rebounds each. Butler handled three rebounds. Theis came away with two rebounds. Clark, Mathis, Owen Perrie and Tate Streit contributed one rebound each.
Superior travels to Oxford, Friday, for a game against Southern Valley. The Centennial Centurions visit Superior for a game Saturday.
