Redneck golf tournament to be held on Sunday

February 16, 2023

Join the fun on Sunday, for the annual Red Neck Miniature Golf tournament in Deweese while supporting a great cause. Proceeds from the Red Neck Miniature Golf event go to St. Jude Research Hospital and to area cancer center patients.

What is Red Neck Miniature Golf? Folks in Deweese have put a little twist on the favorite pastime by not only swinging a club, but dart throwing, ball tossing and other fun activities may be involved. Upon registration, participants will receive a map showing them where each hole is located, all indoors with two or three holes at each location in the area surrounding Deweese.

Registration begins at 11:45 a.m., at the community building or clubhouse, as some call it, just two blocks south of the elevator. The tournament begins at 1 p.m., with a shotgun start. There is no need to bring a club, as one will be provided for you, even you lefties! A potato bar will be served during the event, along with dessert.

A silent auction will be held during the event. Some items available to bid on include two tickets to a 2023 Husker volleyball game, gift certificates to area businesses, gift baskets of goods made by local residents, cooking items and more. A live auction will be held following the day’s activities at approximately 5:30 p.m., including Horse Racing Club House tickets and Club House tickets to “Journey” on Friday, March 25, at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.

In 2022, forty-eight teams registered for the event, and $9,631 was raised for St. Jude’s and area cancer center patients. You can register early for the event by contacting Dee Kohmetscher at 402-469-2575 or on the day of the event at the Deweese Community Club.
