Jewell City Council

The Jewell City Council met in regular session Monday, Feb. 6, at City Hall. Those in attendance were Mayor Darrell Bohnert; council members, Josh Burks, Max Burks, Gaye Daniels, Derek Birdsell, Bob Freeman and Kristie Anderson, city clerk.

Don Jacobs, Jewell County Sheriff, said there was no new updates for the month.

James Reed, code enforcement officer, was present and mentioned sending a couple letters to residents.

Kristie Anderson presented the monthly clerk’s report. She has completed the year’s paperwork. Anderson talked about working on the community center not for profit corporation report that is due by March. Anderson also gave an update on the community center and motel reservation for the month of February.

David Knappert was absent and submitted a written monthly maintenance report. He wrote about the projects he is currently working on this month.

Land Bank Board provided the minutes from their last meeting and also presented their year end financial reports, budget for 2023.

Mayor Bohnert mentioned getting on the schedule to get the handicap ramp and sidewalk done at Emerson Lake.

In other business, Anderson presented the GAAP Waiver Resolution 59. The GAAP Waiver Resolution 59 was approved. Anderson also presented the Land Bank Board Member Terms. The council approved the Lank Bank Board Members new terms.

For the community center, Daniels said the new floor in the community center is almost completed.
