USDA reopening Nuckolls Co. office

Nelson Service Center reopening

September 14, 2023

The USDA Nelson Service Center will be opening part-time on Sept. 19. The office will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A USDA Nelson Service Center will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays in the west portion of the former nursing home starting next week. It is a location producers can connect with the Farm Service Agency and the Natural Resources Conservation district. The service center is open to the public.

The new location of the office is 150 West 8th St. Suite A, located in the west portion of the former nursing home building.

"We are excited to be able to reopen a part-time office in Nelson," said Janet Valasek, NRCS district conservationist. "We know this is important to the producers in the area, and we are committed to providing them with the services they need."

The Nelson Service Center is a USDA Service Center, which means it is a location where producers can connect with Farm Service Agency (FSA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), employees for their business needs.

"We offer a variety of services to producers, including loans, grants, and technical assistance," said Valasek. "We are here to help producers succeed."

The Nelson Service Center is open to the public. For more information, contact the office at 402-762-3569 Ext. 3 or visit the USDA website at http://www.usda.gov.
