SHS volleyball goes 3-2 at tourney

The Superior High School volleyball team had mixed results at the Hastings St. Cecilia Tournament.

Superior downed Cross County in two sets, 25-21 and 25-20, in their opening round game last Tuesday. Lawrence-Nelson was swept by the Wildcats in two sets, 28-26 and 25-13. Wood River surprised Superior in two sets, 19-25 and 16-25, to close out Tuesday’s round.

The Wildcats downed Heartland in two sets, 25-10 and 25-17 on Thursday. Hastings St. Cecilia downed Superior in two sets, 23-25 and 15-25.

The Heartland Huskies paid a visit to Superior Tuesday with match results unavailable at press time.

Reagan Meyers led the Superior killers against Cross County with 11. Ariana Heusinkvelt landed seven kills. Madison Heusinkvelt listed four kills. Halle Bargen added two kills. Lilly Edwards had a kill.

Bargen and Mia Gardener each scored with an ace.

Teegan Duncan came through with 10 digs. Bargen finished the match with eight digs. A. Heusinkvelt and Meyers delivered four digs apiece. Faith Butler and Gardner lifted up three digs each. Edward had a dig.

Duncan owned nine kills against Lawrence-Nelson. Meyers hit for seven kills. Bargen dialed in for six kills. A. Heusinkvelt added two kills while M. Heusinkvelt had one kill.

A. Heusinkvelt slashed through four aces. Meyers lined through two aces. Bargen scored an ace.

Duncan came up with five digs. Butler, A. Heusinkvelt and Meyers produced four digs each. Edwards and Gardner had two digs each.

Meyers topped the kill list against Wood River with nine. M. Heusinkvelt downed six kills. Duncan put away three kills. Bargen and Edwards were good for two kills each.

Bargen handled 10 digs. Edwards and A. Heusinkvelt accounted for six digs each. Meyers came through with five digs. Butler nailed four digs. Gardner finished the match with three digs. M. Heusinkvelt had one dig.

Meyers contributed 10 kills against Heartland. Bargen notched five kills. Duncan landed four kills, Cayce Barry and Ava Kirchhoff added a kill apiece.

Butler and A. Heusinkvelt whipped through two aces each. Gardner and Meyers each lined through an ace.

Bargen took away 11 digs, A. Heusinkvelt added four digs. Butler, Duncan and Meyers cradled three digs each. Edwards and Cora Schnakenberg each made two digs. Gardner and Khloe Mundorf each had a dig.

Meyers led the Wildcat killers against Hastings St. Cecilia with seven. Duncan recorded five kills. Edwards, A. Heusinkvelt and M. Heusinkvelt owned two kills each. Bargen and Butler had a kill each.

A. Heusinkvelt registered two aces while Meyers lashed through an ace. Bargen signed in with 10 digs. Duncan popped up seven digs. Gardner and A. Heusinkvelt took care of five digs each. Meyers held up four digs. Butler and Edwards listed two digs each.

Superior travels to Sandy Creek Tuesday.
