Books, books and more books

October 12, 2023

There is nothing better than curling up with a good book, except perhaps getting together with other book lovers to talk about that book. And that is exactly what the Nelson Library Book Club does on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the library.

Each month the group receives a requested number of the same book from the Nebraska Library Commission so all read the same book and are able to discuss their impressions of the subject matter, contents and presentation put forth by the author. Subjects have ranged from historical novels, biographies, the humor of our ancestors, architecture, serial killers and even the antics of ‘The BOOB Girls’ to name a few. The group has also gathered to watch a movie based on a book they had read.

October’s selection is “Code Talker” by Joseph Bruchac about the Navajo Marines of World War Two. There are a few copies available at the library so stop by, pick one up and join us for discussion on Nov. 1. Everyone is welcome and the only fee is sharing the shipping costs of receiving and returning the books.

We hope to see you Nov. 1. Until then - happy reading!
