Halloween is upon us!

Looking for things to do nearby this spooky season, I found a few and thoughts I would share.

If you’re into haunted houses, but don’t want to travel to the big city, the Chester Community Club puts together a creepy, spooky and fun event. This year’s theme is Hollywood Horror, and you can visit this at the Chester Odditorium from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for a small fee.

If Trunk or Treat is your thing, stop in Nelson, Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. The Nelson Legion and friends will be ready for trick or treaters followed by Family Movie Night at the library starting at 5:30. Then on Sunday from 3:30 to 4 p.m., the Lawrence Community Club will have Trunk or Treat in Downtown Lawrence. Also on Sunday, from 4 to 6 p.m., you can Trunk or Treat at the Fairfield Community Presbyterian Church.

And lastly, Living Faith Fellowship Church is hosting its 2023 fall festival on Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Superior Auditorium.

Please remember if you are expecting trick or treaters on Halloween, turn your porch light on, and never invite children into your house. It’s the one day of the year you get to hold the door open like you were born in a barn. Happy Halloween!
