Businesses relocating downtown

Businesses change locations

Things are changing in the 400 Block of Superior’s Central Avenue.

An established business with a new name opened Wednesday in an expanded location and another business is preparing to open with new owners in a new location.

The former Lost and Found Shop has relocated to the more than 8,000 square foot store building which most recently housed Dollar General. Built following World War II for a furniture store, the building was home for about 35 years to Superior’s J.C. Penney Store.

Now to be known as  Superior’s Indoor Flea Market, the larger space allows for a larger inventory than did the former Lost & Found location. In addition to merchandise the owners offer for sale, the store will also provide space for consignments.

In the space at 410 Central formerly occupied by Lost and Found (the first door south of Nifty-Thrifty) Jessi and Matt Edwards plan to reopen the Total Fitness gym which closed about four months ago.

A farmer, Matt has been juggling fall harvest work with remodeling work to prepare the space. Equipment was moved from the gym’s former location on East Fourth Street last week and is now being placed.
