Nuckolls Co. Board invites courthouse comments Feb. 5

January 25, 2024

What should be done with the Nuckolls County Courthouse? The structure built in the county’s first quarter century, is showing its age.

Rather than pour thousands of dollars into maintaining the structure and trying to adapt it to modern needs, some folks believe, it should be torn down and a new building constructed on the courthouse block.

Others believe it is a symbol of the county, a key link to the past and a structure that should be preserved and used to house county offices.

Before proceeding, the county board has invited county residents to share their opinions. According to an advertisement in this issue, the Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners is inviting all county residents to express any concerns dealing with the current courthouse or the building of a new one. The public will be heard at the February meetings beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, February 5 and 20.
