SHS wrestling sends three to state meet

The Superior High School boys wrestling team has two members who qualified for the state championship meet held at the CHI Center in Omaha today (Thursday) through Saturday. The girls team has one member representing Superior.

Holden McDonald used his third place finish at the Class C District 2 meet in the 126 pound weight bracket to qualify. Kyler Boyles converted his fourth place finish in the 175 pound weight bracket into a ticket to the state meet.

Jackson Bernal competed at the district meet in the 132 pound weight class. Cooper Benjamin competed at 138 pounds. Cooper Sheely went out in the 144 pound weight bracket. Lincoln Sander scored four team points at the 150 pound mark but did not advance to the state meet. Justice Sander earned three team points at 157 pounds. David Hodges competed at 165 pounds.

Cheyenne Stacy advanced to the District 3 girls meet with her second place finish in the 105 pound weight bracket. Carlee Hinz advanced in the 135 pound weight bracket with her second place finish. Grace Martin failed to move on to the district match in the 170 pound weight bracket. Stacy failed to advance out of the district 3 finals to the state meet. Hinz earned the second place medal in the 135 pound weight bracket and a trip to the state meet. Boys C matches get underway Thursday at 9:30 a.m. The girls matches get underway at 3 p.m.
