Love my crazy life

February 29, 2024

I took advantage of the weather Monday, and sat out on the porch with my computer. I sat my computer on an old cast iron stove frame that I normally use as a plant stand. I wish I could find an outdoor table that is about desk height, but small enough to sit on our skinny porch, and light enough to be moved around. I’m typically just hunched over whatever I can find that my laptop will fit on. I’m okay with being a hunch-back, as long as I can be outdoors when the weather is nice.

I’m trying to teach Duke to play fetch, but he is more interested in playing keep away. We were doing good with fetch before winter set in and the Frisbee was lost under a pile of snow. I bought some treats hoping that would help him remember, but no! Now he is more interested in what is in my pocket than the Frisbee.

I’m thankful for this early spring-like weather. I don’t want to jinx it, but I do believe the worst is behind us. My crocus is blooming and my tulips are coming up. One of my neighbor’s trees even looks like it’s starting to get leaves. Although we could still get some snow and cold temperatures, I’m just hoping that we are done with the Arctic cold. I hate being cold! I don’t even care if my clothes match as long as I am warm. Right now I am wearing a light pink sweatshirt with red sweatpants and my big fluffy warm boots. If one of my boys tried to leave the house dressed the way I did, I would’ve grounded him. Every time we go to the store I purchase another sweatshirt cause “this new one is thicker than the ones I have at home.” I have so many sweatshirts!

Friday George is going to Omaha to pick up the boys for a visit. They haven’t been down since December, partly because the car broke down, and partly because of scheduling conflicts. Since the car is so small and we don’t know if Jack plans to come, I am staying home so everyone is as comfortable as possible. George said he would squish them in somehow, but Jack downright refused to ride in the new car, so I volunteered to stay home so that it was easier on everyone. X’s & O’s.
