Cheryl Suhr

Cheryl Suhr, born Cheryl Ruth Dempsey on Aug. 18, 1942, died surrounded by family on April 4, 2024. Cheryl grew up on a farm near Montrose, where she participated in 4-H and was a cheerleader for her high school. She married her children’s father, Lanny, in 1964. They moved to Colorado soon thereafter.

Cheryl had a keen mind for numbers and worked in finance her whole career. She enjoyed singing and performing. In 1972, she found Sweet Adelines International. Cheryl sang in several award-winning quartets, was an esteemed coach. She was a certified arranger for the organization. She remained a member for 52 years.

On Aug. 9, 1992, Cheryl married Dan Suhr and they made their home in Englewood and then Aurora, Colorado. Cheryl loved her family, the mountains and her dogs and spent as much time with them as possible at their cabin in Jefferson, Colorado.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Dan; her children, Liz (Mike), Rebecca, Jeff (Katie) and Jon (Nicki), 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, her brother, Mike (Linda), in-laws Janice, Brigitte, Sheila (Mark) and Jim (Debbie); and many nieces and nephews.
