Reginald Thayer

Reginald Lee Thayer, the son of Loren and Lillian (Smith) Thayer, was born on May 29, 1947, in Superior, Neb. He died Dec. 31, 2018, at Superior at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 2 days.

Reg attended Cadams School and graduated from Superior High School with the Class of 1965. He was president of his freshman class, member of National Honor Society, FFA and was in a class play. After high school, he attended Cloud County Community College at Concordia, Kan., and Kearney State Teachers College at Kearney, Neb. He was in the U. S. Army, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He went to Central Nebraska Technical College in Hastings, Neb., where he studied automobile repair and overhaul.

After the military he worked for International Airport in Amarillo, Texas, was a meat cutter for Iowa Beef in Amarillo, Texas, and meat cutter in Canyon, Texas. Later he moved back to Superior. Reg was a believer in Jesus Christ and attended the Methodist Church in Superior and Webber, Kan.

Reg is survived by three brothers and their families, Steve Thayer of Higginsville, Mo,, Stan Thayer of Montrose, Colo., and Jeff Thayer of Moore, Okla. He was preceded in death by both his parents and two nephews.

His funeral with military honors was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior with Steve Thayer officiating.

Music was “No Matter What,” “Down to the River,” “Chain Breaker” and “Amazing Grace.”

A private family inurnment will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior.

Memorials are suggested to go to the family.
