Tuesday was the last day incumbents could file for this year’s Nebraska election cycle.

In Superior the voters will be asked to fill three seats on the city council. All three incumbents are seeking relection and have filed. Chris Peterson represents the first ward, Sandra Foote the second ward and James Floes the third ward.

Two council members are to be elected to the at-large positions at Nelson. When The Express checked with the county clerk’s office early Tuesday afternoon, Charles Tuttle had filed for re-election. Von Wehrman had not. Tammy Frahm-Thayer, a non-incumbent, had also filed.

None of three incumbents now serving on the Village of Hardy board had filed. The incumbents are Glenday Young, Mary Roberts and Lynda Plauk. The same store was true at Oak and Nora. County Oak village board members Richard Lowery, Derrik Drohman and Michael Hinz had not filed. Neither had Nora village board members Margo Williams and Ave Gebers.

The two Superior Airport Authority incumbents, LuKe Meyer and Zach Dressman had filed.

Five incumbents for the Superior and Lawrene-Nelson school boards had filed. In Superior, Matt Sullivan, Peggy Meyer and Luke Meyers will seek re-election. For the Lawrence-Nelson board incumbents Phillip Brockman and Lance Williams had filed. Ethan Epley had not filed.

Only one county position is open and it is the commissioner’s seat held by Darin Blackstone. He was not expected to file.

As the filings were checked before the deadline it is possible some candidates may have filed before closing time.

Monday, March 2, is the filing deadline for non-incumbents.
