Gilbert Wilton

 


Gilbert Lee Wilton, 84, died May 17, at Denver, Colo. He was born Sept. 10, 1935, at Superior, to Ila and Clarence Wilton.

Gib was born and raised in Superior, where he farmed alongside his family. Gib then moved to Denver a few years after graduation and later began his career as a Denver firefighter (1961 to 1989). Gib married Roberta (Bertie) and they were married for 58 years. Gib was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and daughter, Charlene Wilton. He was also preceded in death by baby sister, Shirley; and brothers, Harold and Roger. He is survived by his wife, Bertie, of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Angela and husband, Bruce Rindahl, Ventura, Calif.; son, Rob and wife, Sharon Wilton, Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter, Pam and husband, Jim Nichols, Denver, Colo.; son, Clarence and wife, Tracy Wilton, Morrison, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Dewayne (Colleen ) Barleen, St. Paul, Neb.; sisters-in-law, Lorna Wilton, Superior, and Lynn Wilton Koester (Marvin).

Gib retired and worked for American Target, and with daughter, Pam, until he was 80. Gib devoted his time working for the church and helping anyone he could. Gib was quite the handyman and mechanic. He could fix anything big or small. Gib enjoyed playing games, camping, traveling and his time with friends and family.

A memorial will be held at a later date because of COVID-19. A private burial will be held for the immediate family.
