As you travel through Mankato, have you searched for somewhere to satisfy your hunger? North of Highway 36, at 119 E. Jefferson is a little restaurant, Bob's of Mankato. From Mexican food to American food, George Hennion, his business partner Hector Garcia, and their staff welcome their customers.

Bob's is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 5 to 8:30 or 9p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Hennion said if there are still customers in the restaurant, he will stay open to accommodate them. Closing from 2 to 5 p.m., allows the staff to relax during the day before the dinner rush. The busiest hours of the day are during 11 to 2. This is the time the farmers take a break from their day in the fields.

Hennion is a certified pastry chef who studied culinary arts at Johnson County Community college. Garcia and Hennion moved from Sacramento, Calif., to be closer to Hennion's family and to manage Bob's. Hennion decided to keep the name Bob's to carry on the tradition the community respects and enjoys.

Hennion takes time out of his day to face-time his two grandsons. While living in Sacramento, he worked with Sacramento Childcare Advocates.

Garcia is a licensed barber and manicurist. He is a published singer in Mexico. Every other Friday night Garcia sings at the restaurant.
