Golfers played in cooler weather Friday evening

The mixed couples summer golf league met in Nelson at the Elk Creek Country Club Friday evening for their seventh round of competition, again using the two-person scramble format. All golfers teed off from the women’s tee boxes this week. This worked well for some and not-so-well for others. The evening was cooler and cloudy with thunder in the distant north. Just as the golfers were finishing, it cleared off and the sun came out.

This week Craig German and Cindy Hewitt came in with a low net score of 32. Richard and Verlene Watson took a 50 for high score. Cody and Crystal Wyatt had the most over on a hole, taking an 8 on hole 4. Chuck Tuttle was able to chip onto hole 1 within 9 1/2” of the hole. Cody Wyatt had the shortest putt on hole 3 at 5” and Ken Rempe’s second shot on hole 5 was the closest to the green but not on.

The standings haven’t changed much this week. Still in first place with their 10 points are Cody and Crystal Wyatt. Earning two points this week, and creeping up closer to first place, are Craig German and Cindy Hewitt with 8 1/2 points. Josh and Christina Harwell are still in third. place with their six points. Tying for fourth place with 5 1/2 points are the teams of Joe and Jenny Harwell and Jerry Bargen and Sally Uhrmacher. Still in sixth place with 4 points is Ken and Jan Rempe. Earning two points, and now in seventh place with 3 1/2 points, are Chuck and DeAnna Tuttle. Tying for eighth place with 2 1/2 points are the teams of Richard and Verlene Watson and Rod and Sue Burge.

Golfers then gathered at the club house for grilled hamburgers and the extras that were brought in.
