Grants awarded in JC

The Jewell County Community Foundation Board met to review grant applications for the fall round of grant considerations. Awards for this round were granted through a percentage from yearly Match Month donations and the generosity of the Dane G. Hansen Foundation. The following grants were awarded:

The committee unanimously awarded the City of Jewell $7,131 from Dane G. Hansen Foundation for lighting improvements at Lake Emerson.

The committee awarded the City of Mankato Fire Department $5,000 from Dane G. Hansen Foundation for radio equipment. Brian Shulda and Kristin Mizner abstained from voting.

The committee awarded Esbon Fire District 3 $10,500 from Dane G. Hansen Foundation for outfitting a fire truck. Kristin Mizner and Kenny Mizner abstained from voting.

The committee awarded the City of Esbon $917 from Dane G. Hansen Foundation for a utility locator. Kristin Mizner and Kenny Mizner abstained from voting.

The committee unanimously awarded the Jewell County Fire District 6 (Formoso) $4,900 from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation for a fire truck pump.

The committee unanimously awarded the Formoso Community Improvement Committee $3,500 from Dane G. Hansen Foundation for flower pots, soil, etc. for a beautification project.

The committee unanimously awarded Smoky Hill Public Television $500 from Dane G. Hansen Foundation for children’s books and children’s programming on PBS.

The committee awarded USD 107 $2,000 from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation and $2,000 from the Jewell County Community Foundation for handrails for the football-track stadium. Kenny Mizner abstained from voting.

The committee unanimously awarded the Mankato First Baptist Church $3,100 from Dane G. Hansen Foundation for kitchen countertops and a new sink.

The committee awarded the Jewell County Council on Aging-Mankato Senior Center $4,500 from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation and $1,000 from the Jewell County Community Foundation for countertops and cabinetry. Trevor Elkins abstained from voting.

The committee unanimously awarded the City of Mankato $4,650 from Dane G. Hansen Foundation for Christmas decorations.

The above awards total $46,698 from Dane G. Hansen Foundation and $3,000 from the Jewell County Community Foundation.
