Elks receive grant for COVID supplies

January 28, 2021

The Superior Elks Lodge is helping communities and essential workers cope with COVID. The lodge members applied for and received grants to purchase and donate hand sanitizer, face masks and gloves.

The Elks will spend an estimated $900 to purchase three-layer facial masks with elastic ear loops; $775 worth of gloves; and $350 for 8-ounce bottles of hand sanitizer. These will be donated to organizations within the nine Superior lodge communities.

“PAYing it forward with Pizza” was an Elks campaign to show thanks to essential workers during the COVID pandemic. Patrick Ryan, local Elks member, and volunteers made 20 pizzas and delivered them to essential workers and to a number of businesses for their employees.

Volunteers gave more than five and a half hours to baking and making the pizzas. They plan to do this again in February.
