L-N at Superior Invite

Cole Troudt was the highlight reel for the Lawrence-Nelson track and field teams at Friday’s Superior Invitational in Superior. Troudt established a new school record in the 3200 meter run, breaking the old record set by Emmet Fanning in 2013 by six seconds.

The Lawrence-Nelson boys team finished in fourth place with 68 points. The girls were in third place with 91 points. Other schools at the meet were Superior, Hastings St. Cecilia, Thayer Central, Sandy Creek, Deshler and the Beatrice junior varsity squad. The first six places earn team points.

Devyn Zikmund placed sixth in the 100 meter dash with his time of 11.88 seconds.

Erik Wheeland ran the 200 meter dash. Gabe Zikmund ran the 400 meter dash.

Logan Menke was in second place in the 800 meter dash with his time of 2:13.67. Nelson Ostdiek came in fourth with the time of 2:17.4. Evan Jacobitz took sixth place with the time of 2:24.9.

Troudt took second place in the 1600 meter run with his time of 5:07.5. Menke held third place with a time of 5:08.8.

Despite his record breaking 3200 meter run, Troudt netted a second place finish. His time was 10:38.2.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Wheeland, Menke, Tyson Kotinek and D. Zikmund finished fourth with their time of 49.32 seconds.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Kotinek, AJ Koehler, G. Zikmund and D. Zikmund sealed up second place with their time of 3:59.12.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Menke, Kotinek, Nolan Ostdiek and Troudt took first place points with their time of 9:03.28.

Trevor Biltoft cleared 5’2” in the high jump for a second place finish.

D. Zikmund took fourth place in the long jump, covering 18’2”.

Kotinek was the fourth place finisher in the triple jump with a distance of 37’1”.

Elsa Jorgensen finished fourth in the 100 meter dash with her time of 13.83. Katelyn Mazour finished out of the points range.

Mazour competed in the 200 meter dash.

Aleah Heikkinen took sixth place in the 400 meter dash with her time of 2:42.32.

Emily Troudt finished third in her first outing in the 1600 meter run with the time of 7:16.6.

Jessica Sole finished fourth in the 3200 meter run with her time of 17:02. McKenzie Ostdiek took sixth place with the time of 19.14. The two runners made their season debut in this race.

Emma Epley struck gold with her first place finish in the 100 meter hurdles in the time of 16.79 seconds. Sydney Biltoft finished third with the time of 17.96.

Biltoft recorded a second place finish in the 300 meter hurdles with her time of 51.8.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Claire Himmelberg, Epley, Jorgensen and Mazour were in third place with the time of 55.9 seconds.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Heikkinen, Himmelberg, Epley and Jorgensen were in third place with the time of 4:56.07.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Himmelberg, Sole, Tori Miller and E. Troudt nailed down second place points with their time of 12:16.07.

Biltoft landed in third place in the high jump at 4’4”.

Jorgensen grabbed third place in the long jump at 15’11.5. Epley was in fourth place with a leap of 15’6”. Miller also competed in this event.

Kylie Beard converted her 31’4.75 toss into a third place finish in the shot put.

Beard took third place points in the discus with her throw of 100’3”. Heikkinen threw for 84.2 for a sixth place finish.

The track and field teams are competing at the Twin Valley Conference track meet, Friday, at Red Cloud High School with a 9 a.m. start time.
