Ken Brown

 


Ken W. Brown, 73, died at his home in Nampa, Idaho, May 31, 2021. His funeral was held Saturday at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel in Nampa.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sherry Ann Brown; his father and mother, Rolland and Jesse Marie Wagers-Brown; brothers, Ray, Orval and Rex Brown; son, Steven Brown; and daughter, Sharla Kay Brown.

Ken is survived by his daughter, Angela Jo Smith; son-in-law, Dale Smith; granddaughters, Alisha Stephenson (James), DaleAnn Smith, Kendall Smith; great-grandchildren, Olivia Shippy; Blake, and Kevin Stephenson; sisters-in-law, Lillian Johns and Lilli Shellhase; and brother-in-law, Don Shellhase.

Ken was born in Provo, Utah, on July 5, 1947. He moved to Idaho in 1964, where he met his future wife, Sherry Ann Morris, they were married in Nampa on April 23, 1965. The two of them built a family and life together for more than 50 years. Ken drove long haul trucks for the better part of 20 years, before trading the over the road life for being home every night. He had worked construction, roofing, maintenance and wholesale flower delivery before retiring officially in 2005.

One of Ken’s favorite hobbies was fishing from his boat, it didn’t matter which lake, or season. Another was camping at Deadwood reservoir near July 4th. Ken was involved with the Loyal Order of Moose for decades, working his way through the ranks, all the way to fellow and past governor. He started teaching hunters’ education after retirement, enjoying the chance to teach about hunting and the outdoors also visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His late wife was a Superior High School graduate with the class of 1964.
