Von E. VanMeter, 70, died Wednesday, July 28, 2021. He was born in Concordia, Kan., on March 14, 1951, to Ivan and Lela VanMeter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Vonda Kaye.

Von was married to Alma Dean Johnson. To this union three daughters were born: Vonda (Mike) Hahne, Hastings, Neb., Deana (Taitum) Wood, Salina, and Kelli (Shane) Bruce, Phoenix, Ariz.

Von is survived by his friend, Alma Dean; and daughters, Deana and Kelli; six grandchildren, Brandon, Brayden, and Brett Mosher, Kaleb and Peyton Wood, and Cale Bruce; two step-granddaughters, Kylee Boone and Joette Sargent; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Von loved his family, who were the light of his life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and liked all outdoor activities.

Von chose to donate his body to the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the KU Medical Center. The family will have a private funeral for their father and grandfather.
