Shirley Kuhlmann

Shirley June Kuhlmann, 78, Chester, the daughter of Adolph and Lenora (Ahrens) Gehle was born on a farm near Chester, June 17, 1943. She

died Aug. 10, at her home in Chester.

She attended a one room country school through the eighth grade and then went to Chester High School.

Shirley married Karis Kuhlmann Sept. 12, 1959. This union was blessed with the birth of three children.

Shirley was helpmate on the farm caring for the livestock, helping where

ever needed, cooking and taking care of the children.

She worked as a cook at the local cafes, the senior center in Chester and the Belleville hospital.

Her church was her rock and teaching Bible school at Abiding Word Lutheran Church in Deshler. She enjoyed making new friends, sewing and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lillias Davenport

and Larriet Davenport; and one brother, Delain Gehle.

She is survived by her husband, Karis of Chester; sons Scot Kuhlmann

of Chester and Rob Kuhlmann; daughter, Michele Dinkel; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Gehle of Byron; and sister, Verleen Vorderstrasse of Chester.

Her funeral was at Abiding Word Lutheran Church in Deshler, August 13. Officiant was Pastor Ken Hart. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Stoddard, Neb.
