There is a new restaurant on Superior's horizon i. Eric and April Perrie have purchased the location of the former Superior Pizza Hut. The couple are planning a major renovation project to revitalize the building.

Eric is son of Jim and Vicki Perrie, Superior. He is a 2001 graduate of Superior High School. He is currently employed at Duncan Aviation, Lincoln, as an aircraft mechanic. April Garcia Perrie grew up in Nelson and is also a 2001 Superior High School graduate. She serves as the director of dietary for Brodstone Memorial Hospital. The couple have three children. Isaac, 21, is employed at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings. Owen, 17, is a junior at Superior High School. Luka, 7, is a second grader at Superior Elementary School.

When asked why open a restaurant, the couple answered they see a niche that is not being filled. The prompting by friends and family to share their culinary skills for the public to enjoy was also a factor. April is well known for her dessert making abilities. The pair plan to offer quality steaks sourced from a Lincoln purveyor. The menu will feature smoked items such as brisket and pulled pork as well as ribs. Traditional fare such as hamburgers and ribs will be offered along with a children's menu.

The couple looks to make Perrie's Steakhouse and Smokehouse a destination restaurant for the area. They envision special offerings such as date nights with candle lit service.

The Perrie's are undertaking a major project. They will basically gut the interior of the building. They will enclose the kitchen area. New walk-in coolers will be installed. A fire suppression system will be added to the hood ventilation system. Eric plans to install a gravity fed charcoal smoker.

New flooring and walls will be installed. New tables and chairs will greet guests when the restaurant opens. The location has ample parking for campers and vehicles with boat trailers.

The Perries are looking to open the venue the first weekend in May. The plan is to open six days a week.
