SHS volleyball loses title at tourney

The Superior High School volleyball team has held the championship trophy at the Hastings St. Cecilia Invitational for the past years. There would not be a sixth year. After cruising through four matches, Superior fell to host Hastings St. Cecilia in three sets, 17-25, 25-14 and 16-25.

Superior downed Cross County in two sets Tuesday. 25-20 and 25-19. They handed Lawrence-Nelson a three-set, 22-25, 25-22 and 25-11, loss. Wood River was a two-set sweep, 25-12 and 25-16. Superior downed Heartland in two sets, 25-12 and 25-12. The Wildcats departed Hastings with a 15-6 record. They were number 10 in wild card points.

Superior visited Minden Tuesday for a match with the Whippets. Results were not available at press time.

Statistics were unavailable for the games.

The Heartland Huskies are in Superior today (Thursday) for the Senior Night match. The Wildcats travel to Sandy Creek Tuesday.
