Doris Baylie

Doris Darlene Baylie, the daughter of Frank and Hannah (Ahlvers) Darling, was born on Oct. 6, 1933, in Beloit, Kan. She died Nov. 29, at the Sheridan County Health Complex at Hoxie, Kan., at the age of 88 years, 1 month, 23 days.

Doris was one of 11 children. She attended grade school in Bostwick. On June 29, 1952, at Mankato, Kan., she was married to Harold Russel Baylie. To this union was born two children.

During her years of employment, Doris hauled mail from Burr Oak to Concordia and was a cook at the Buffalo Roam for many years. Family was very important to Doris, with them all being very close. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and cooking and baking for her family, especially during the holidays.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Hannah; husband, Harold on May 17, 2002; brothers, Wilber, Doyle and Max Darling; and sisters, Helen Ewer, Geneva Sloane, Irene Gholson, Joan Albertson, Leota Heiden and Carol Clyde; and granddaughter, Danielle Baylie.

Survivors include her son, Randy (Janis) Baylie of Moulton, Ala .; and her daughter, Rhonda (Rodger) Farber of Hoxie, Kan .; six grandchildren: Carrie Seeger, Jeffery (Amy) Flavin, Jaime (Jared) Flavin, Lucas Flavin, Ashley (Scot) Hale and Abbey (Kyle) Lawrence; a host of great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Rex Darling of Hastings; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., today (Thursday), Dec. 2, from the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak, Kansas with Pastor Natalie Faust officiating.

Music will be a recording of "Supermarket Flowers."

Visitation was held on Wednesday from 4 to 8p.m., with family present from 4 to 6.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren Carrie, Jeffery, Jamie, Lucas, Ashley and Abbey.

Interment will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery.
