February 10, 2022

Kenneth “Roger” Ingram was born June 9, 1938, to Geraldine (Stewart) and Melvin Ingram in Jewell County, near Esbon, Kan., in a limestone house that still stands today. He died at his home near Lebanon on Jan. 31, 2022.

In his childhood years he liked participating in basketball, playing baseball and time with his dad as his coach.

He said he learned a lot about life playing sports. He graduated from the Lebanon High School in 1956, at the age of 17.

He was united in marriage to his lifelong bride, Carol Jean Killough on Oct. 10, 1958, in Red Cloud. They raised four children, Debbie, Marcia, Kevin and Jeff.

In his early years he worked at and ran gasoline stations. In 1969, he began working at Eaton Corporation in Kearney. He was one of the first hired and took pride in working 22 years with perfect attendance. He retired from Eaton in 1998, to pursue his love of cattle and farming. He found a way to overcome any obstacles, despite his permanent injuries he acquired in a motorcycle accident in 1978. He moved to his family farm and raised Texas Longhorn cattle and farmed to the amazement of many people. He enjoyed riding his Gator with his loyal dog “Pup.”

Roger enjoyed restoring cars and tractors. He was the first president of the Antique Tractor Association. He enjoyed taking trips across the United States on his motorcycle. Camping in Colorado and Wyoming with family was a yearly event for many years.

He was a private man in many ways but he could pull some pranks and catch you unaware.

Survivors are his children, Mrs. Duane Chromy (Debbie), Marcia Brooks; Kevin Ingram, and Jeff Ingram; eight grandchildren; four great-

grandchildren; his sister, Cheryl Campbell; a sister-in-law, Donna Wroblewski; other relatives and friends.

His funeral was held at 10:30 a.m., Feb. 4, at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with Rev. Les Ellis officiating. Interment will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
