Jon Stratman

 

Jon K. Stratman was born Oct. 21, 1955, in Superior Neb., to Dale and Bernice (Swihart) Stratman. He died May 13, 2022, in his home at Columbia, Tenn., from his battle with cancer.

Jon grew up in the communities of Hardy and Fair- field, Neb. After graduation from Sandy Creek High School, he entered the United States Navy (Sea Bees) during the later years of the Vietnam Conflict. He returned to the workforce as a finish carpenter. He worked on several businesses and homes in our area as well as Lincoln, Omaha and the Nashville Tenn., area.

Jon married Sheryl Grana and to this union twin sons were born, Tyler Dale and Brant Arthur Stratman.

Jon enjoyed bass fishing, entering and winning several tournaments across the area. When he wasn't working, he was fishing, perfecting his skills for the next tourney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert; his grandparents; one niece, Marian Stratman; and two nephews, Samuel Stratman and Travis Bailey.

Survivors are his sons, Tyler, (Josselyn Adkinson and her son, Max) of Spring Hill, Tenn.; Brant (Revital) and grandchildren, Eli and Avigail (which were his pride and joy) of Parkland Fla.; sister-in-law, Clista Stratman of Bartlett Tenn.; brother, Raymond (Butch) and Janice Stratman of Clay Center Neb.; sister, Jacklyn Kay and John Risewick of Phillipsburg Kan.; brother, Jerry and Jane Stratman of Omaha; and sister, Dawn Rae and Rex Bailey of Fairfield Neb.; seven nieces; and five nephews; cousins, friends and neighbors.

Inurnment will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery rural Lovewell, Kan.
