A 34-year-old Hastings resident with ties to Superior lost his life Monday in a Roseland grain silo.

Travis Thelander died after becoming trapped in a CHS Agri Services Center corn silo. He was determined to be dead when removed from the silo.

Multiple fire and rescue agencies responded to the call for assistance which came in at 4:05 p.m.

An autopsy has been ordered and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate the incident.

Reports circulating in Superior on Tuesday indicate he was wearing a safety harness and had spoken to a coworker shortly before the accident.

He was the son of Superior residents, the Calvin Thelanders, and has children living in Superior.
