USD 5 cross country

The USD 5 Red Raiders cross country runners competed at the Adams Central Invitational held in Hastings last Tuesday. The Thayer Central Invitational, scheduled for Thursday at Hebron, was cancelled because of adverse course conditions. The Red Raiders competed at the University of Nebraska-Kearney High School Invitational meet Monday.

Rowan Jarosik continued his medal streak with a fifth place finish over the 5K course. He finished behind four runners from Class A and 11 schools. His time was 17:09. Sean Heaton finished in 69th place with the time of 21:46.

Teagan Jarosik, who is recovering from a hip injury, ran her first race in more than a year. She took home 58th place with the time of 27:37. Cassidy Huston turned in a time of 37:50 for 76th place.

The meet at Kearney featured 301 Class C runners in the boys 5K race. Jarosik earned a medal with his seventh place finish with his time of 17:14. Heaton was in 253rd place with his time of 23:22.

The team competes at the Twin Valley Conference meet at Clay Center today (Thursday).
