Chase Ehlers

Chase Garrett Ehlers, the son of Ted and Marcia (Dunn) Ehlers, was born on June 12, 1996, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He died Oct. 10, 2022, at Manhattan, Kan., at the age of 26 years, 3 months, 28 days.

Chase was baptized in the Webber United Methodist Church. Growing up, Chase attended many schools including Mt. View Elementary in Mt. View, Hawaii; North Polk Elementary School in Fort Polk, La .; Stowers Elementary in Fort Benning, Ga .; Chapman Middle School in Chapman, Kan., and was a graduate of Lawrence-Nelson High School in Nelson, Neb. After graduating, he attended the University of Nebraska for a time before enlisting in the United States Army on June 22, 2015, earning the National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon. Chase was honorably discharged on Dec. 20, 2017, and continued his education at the Kansas State University where he presently was enrolled.

Throughout Chase's life, he lived in the communities of Helemano, Hawaii, Fort Benning, Ga., Mountain View, Hawaii, Fort Polk, La., Chapman, Kan., Nelson, Neb., and was presently living in Manhattan, Kan.

Chase was preceded in death by his grandparents, Duane and Pat Ehlers. Survivors include his parents, Ted and Marcia; and his brother, Nash, all of Chapman, Kan .; grandparents, Don and Ardythe Dunn of Deshler, and Paul and Linda Hutchinson of Superior; aunts and uncles, Melanie and Ryan Mikkelsen of Ruskin; Tanya and Brandon Lynch of Raymond, Neb .; Michelle and Greg Perkins of Reeds Spring, Mo .; Dawn and Larry Miller of Nelson; Brian and Sharon Soulek of Charlestown, Ind .; Devrie and Brian Hahn of Dallas, Texas; Ty and Michelle Ehlers of Norfolk, Va .; John and Kathy Ehlers of Octavia, Neb .; Dawn Griffith and Sally and John Kramar of Schuyler, Neb .; numerous cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

His funeral was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson with pastors Ivan and Joyce Dean officiating.

Recorded music was "Beat You There."

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m., on Oct. 14, with the family present from 6 to 8 to greet friends.

Pallbearers were Cole Epley, Dan Schroer, Lane Schroer, Steven Kimminau, Austin Mazour, Josh Himmelberg, Mike Jacobitz, Ryan Kile, Mark Sanders and Dale Fike.

Interment with military honors was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Neb.
