Late winter rain greatly appreciated

While some parts of the country didn’t fare so well, Nuckolls County received a great-late winter rain late Sunday and early Monday.

Less rain apparently fell in Thayer County. Reports from that county include 0.34 three plus miles northeast of Chester, 0.30 inches east northeast of Hebron, 0.44 inches near Deshler and 0.54 inches 4 miles north northeast of Byron.

The CoCoRaHS network is a grassroots volunteer network of observers scattered throughout the United States. More observers are needed. For information about how to volunteer go to the cocorahs.org website. Observers use gauges approved by the National Weather Service and their reports are shared with the weather service. The only requirement to join is an enthusiasm for watching and reporting weather conditions and a desire to learn more about how weather can affect and impact our lives.

While we have had a few days of spring like weather, there is a possibility for snow today (Thursday) and tonight. On Tuesday afternoon the prediction for our circulation area ranged from a trace to as much as three inches. The weather service indicated there was a 10 percent of chance of 4 inches in Superior and 5 inches in Webster County.
