Louis Brockman

Louis "Lou" William Brockman, 83, of Holiday Island, Arkansas, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Spring- dale, Arkansas.

He was born June 24, 1939, in St. Stephens, Nebraska, the son of William and Margaret (Hoelting) Brockman. On June 14, 1969, in Waukee, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Gretchen Palmer, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Gregory Brockman of Waukee, Iowa, and Mark Brockman (spouse, Zabrina Brumme) of Vancouver, Canada; one daughter, Emily Davis (spouse, Chris) of Novi, Michigan; and one grandson, Louis Nathaniel Brockman.

Lou was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Agnus Bruckner and Collette Pohlmeier. A third sister, Rita Venhaus, died on March 3, 2023.

He graduated from Lawrence High School and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by the Principal Financial Group, formerly Bankers Life Insurance Company, in Des Moines, Iowa. He moved to Holiday Island in 2005.

Lou enjoyed woodworking, model shipbuilding, working outdoors, was a big fan of Nebraska football and volleyball, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Shell Knob and very active in the Knights of Columbus.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) March 16, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Shell Knob. Father David Miller will conduct the services. Burial will be at Boonville Cemetery in Boonville, Iowa.
