Lawrence-Nelson track season opens

The Lawrence-Nelson High School boys placed first at the Deshler Twilight Triangular track meet last Thursday. Members of the team include (back row) Carter Griffis, Sawyer Cox, Nolan Ostdiek, Rocky Miller, (front) Cody Funk, Aidan Zikmund, Tyson Kotinek, Devin Zikmund, Eric Wheeland and Nathan Pofahl.

The Lawrence-Nelson boys and girls track and field teams opened the 2023 season at the Deshler Twilight triangular meet Thursday. Meridian was the third school at the meet.

The girls team finished in third place with 60 points. The boys were in first place with 159 points.

Hanna Skinner finished in fifth place in the girls 200 meter dash with her time of 31.85 seconds.

Addi McCloskey earned the third place points in the 800 meter run with her time of 3:09.11.

Jessica Sole was in first place in the 1600 meter run with her time of 7:02.85.

Sydney Biltoft earned the first place points in the 100 meter hurdles with her time of 16 seconds.

Biltoft topped the field in the 300 meter hurdles with her time of 54.09 seconds. Sole grabbed the third place points with a time of 1:02.35.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Skinner, McCloskey, Sole and Biltoft finished in second place with their time of 1:01.2.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Biltoft, Skinner, McCloskey and Sole took third place with a time of 5:11.05.

Skinner finished in fifth place with 12''8" leap in the long jump.

Devyn Zikmund had a standout day at the meet. He picked up first place in the 100 meter dash with his time of 12.20 seconds. Erik Wheeland took third place with his time of 12:87 seconds. Tyson Kotinek was in sixth place with his time of 13.2 seconds. Carter Griffis posted a time of 13.45 seconds.

Griffis was fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.63 seconds.

Aiden Zikmund held down first place in the 400 meter dash with his time of 1:03.65. Sawyer Cox placed third with a time of 1:05.17.

Nolan Ostdiek earned first place points in the 800 meter run with his time of 2:16.56. Cody Funk was in fifth place with his time of 2:36.05.

Ostdiek added another first place finish in the 1600 meter run with his time of 5:22.11.

Funk collected the second place points for the 3200 meter run.

A. Zikmund landed in second place in the 110 meter high hurdles with his time of 23.33 seconds.

D. Zikmund added the first place points in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles with his time of 48.6 seconds.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Griffis, A. Zikmund, Funk and Rocky Miller finished second with their time of 53,26 seconds.

Devin Zikmund, Lawrence-Nelson, placed first in the 100m at the Deshler Twilight triangular.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Kotinek, Ostdiek, A. Zikmund and D. Zikmund. Wheeland was fourth in the shot put a toss of 33'3". Cox was in fifth place with his toss of 32'9". Miller had a toss of 28'10". Nathan Pofahl hit 25"10.25".

Wheeland led the discus field with his throw of 126'9" Cox was in fourth place with his 103'11" effort. Miller hit the 85'3" mark. Pofahl hit 70'2".

Funk cleared 4'10" for fifth place in the high jump.

D. Zikmund accounted for the first place points in the long jump with his leap of 16'8". Kotinek followed in second with a leap of 16'3.5".

Kotinek picked up first place in triple jump with his combined distance of 38"3.5". Griffis was in second with his 36'9" effort.

The Raiders compete at Kenesaw today (Thursday).
