SHS track teams host invite

Sadie Rempel (left), Ariana Heusinkvelt, Ella Gardner, Piper Havel, Thayer Central, and Khloe Mundorf have their eyes on the finish line of a 100 meter dash preliminary heat at the Superior Invitational last Tuesday.

The Wildcat Community Track was abuzz with track and field athletes last Tuesday as Superior hosted the Superior Invitational. Boys and girls track and field teams from Lawrence-Nelson, Hastings St. Cecilia, Heartland Community, Thayer Central and Sandy Creek were represented at the meet.

The Superior girls finished in second place, with 146 points, behind Hastings St. Cecilia, the team winner.

The Superior boys finished in sixth place, with 33 points. Hastings St. Cecilia won the boys team bracket.

Ella Gardner put on another impressive display for the Wildcats. She earned four place medals at the meet.

Gardner led the girls 100 meter dash field with her time of 12.65 seconds. Khloe Mundorf was in third place with her time of 13.46 seconds. Ariana Heusinkvelt listed a time of 13.75 seconds for a fifth place finish. Sadie Rempel was in seventh place with her time of 13.89 seconds for the race. Cora Schnakenberg ran a 14.81 second preliminary heat.

Gardner locked up first place in the 200 meter dash with her time of 26.3 seconds. Ava Kirchhoff failed to advance from the preliminary heats with her time of 31.09 seconds.

Faith Butler claimed the second place points for the 400 meter dash with her time of 1:06.07. Halle Bargen had a time of 1:11.54.

Brooklyn Grabast held sixth place in the 1600 meter run with her time of 6:54.56.

Hailey Blecha grabbed fifth place in the 3200 meter run with her time of 15.33.64.

Mundorf was awarded the first place medal for her finish in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.39 seconds.

Schnakenberg took fourth place in the 300 meter hurdles with her time of 53.49 seconds.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Rempel, Mundorf, Tova Lestander and Grabast collected the first place points with their time of 53.49 seconds.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Bargen, Laci Kirchhoff, Mundorf and Butler were in fifth place with their time of 4:49. 71.

A. Heusinkvelt nabbed first place in the shot put with her toss of 39'6.5". Madison Heusinkvelt listed a best effort of 31'5" for the fifth place points. Mia Gardner had a toss of 29'5". Lilly Edwards recorded a toss of 29"1". Grabast had a toss of 28'6". Lestander had a toss of 223'11".

Atlee Kobza earned second place in the discus with her throw of 106'1". M. Gardner was in fourth place with her throw of 87'2". M. Heusinkvelt had a throw of 84'5" for her fifth place finish. Lestander posted a best throw of 50'1".

L. Kirchhoff was the winner of the high jump when she cleared 4'8". Schnakenberg listed fourth place with her height of 4'4".

Rempel topped the pole vault field with her 10' effort for first place.

Gardner collected the first place medal for the long jump with her leap of 18'3.5". A. Heusinkvelt was in third place with her leap of 15'7.25". Butler nabbed fifth place with her jump of 14'9". Bargen had a distance of 14'8".

Gardner established a new Superior school record when she covered a distance of 37'5.5" for the triple jump. She was also the previous record holder. L. Kirchhoff covered 30'2". A. Kirchhoff recorded a distance of 28'6".

James Love ran a preliminary heat of the boys 100 meter dash in 12.19 seconds, he did not move on to the final heat. Jacob Meyer had a preliminary heat time of 12.27 seconds. Aiden Humphries posted a 12.32 second heat. Aaron Allgood listed a time of 12.58 seconds. Dayne Clark had a time of 12.94 seconds.

Love ran a final heat of 25.88 seconds for eighth place in the 200 meter dash. Meyer had a prelim time of 26.16 seconds. Allgood posted a time of 25.24 seconds. Dylan Edwards had a time of 28.16 seconds.

Thomas Mathis had a time of 1:10.76 for the 400 meter dash. Declan Miller finished the race with a time of 1:10.77.

Tanner Theis took fifth place in the 800 run with his time of 2:24.12. Elvind Uvslokk finished in 2:21.78. Mathis had a time of 3:24.94.

Derek Kirchhoff listed a time of 6:59.49 for the 1600 meter run. Love nailed down second place in the 110 meter hurdles with his time of 17.25 seconds. Humphries picked up sixth place with his time of 17.81 seconds.

Lincoln Sander listed a time of 51.15 seconds for the 300 meter hurdles. Kyler Boyles finished with a time of 52.69 seconds.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Boyles, Chris Chavez, Sander and Clark were in fourth place with their time of 51.31 seconds.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Meyer, Allgood, Theis and Humphries held fifth place with their time of 4:10.72. The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Theis, Sander, Uvslokk and Boyles earned the second place points with their time of 9:59.4.

Luke Jameson was in fifth palce in the shot put with his toss of 41'. Henry Griljava had a best toss of 36'6.5". Clark had a toss of 31'1". Christian Osweiler had a best effort of 30'6". Chavez put up a toss of 30'1". Riedar Vier had a best toss of 29'5.5".

Jameson took sixth place in the discus with his throw of 115". Griljava had a best throw of 108'9". Chaves recorded a throw of 109'. Clark had a throw of 101'9". Miller had a best effort of 83'10". Osweiler had a throw of 76'7".

Uvslokk finished eighth in the high jump with a 5'2" best effort.

Edwards recorded a leap of 14'10" for the long jump. Sander covered 14'9".

Meyer was in fourth place in the triple jump with a combined distance of 36'9.75". Mathis had a distance of 33'5". Boyles traveled 33'1.25". Edwards covered 31'2".

The Wildcats travel to Fairbury Saturday for the Southern Nebraska Conference meet.
