Edith "Edie" Marquart

 

Edith Marcele Marquart, the daughter of Vernon and June (Van Nuffel) Runyan, was born on April 29, 1948, in Concordia, Kansas. She died on May 4, 2023 at the Bryan LGH Medical Center West at Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 75 years and 5 days.

Edie was one of eight children. She attended schools in Hardy, Belleville and Superior, where she later earned her GED. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church at Byron. On Aug. 20, 1983, she was united in marriage to Jerry Marquart at Bethany Lutheran Church, Ruskin. This union was blessed with five children.

Edie loved her flowers and gardening. Her pastime included working word search and coloring books. She enjoyed shopping, crocheting, cooking, baking and collecting anything pretty which included her angel collection. Family time was her favorite and she loved goofing around with her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Billie Jo Harder; brothers, Vernon and Charles Runyan; and sisters, Nancy (Lee) Lewellyn, Jeanne (Bill) Kussman, and Lucille Hancock.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry; children Terry (Jeanne) Stiles of Lincoln, Nebraska; Alan (Isabelle) Marquart of Hardy; Shana (Adam) Harding of Hardy, and J.D. Marquart of Ruskin; grandchildren Amber Stiles, Bailey Marquart and Serenity Harding; siblings, Charlotte (Barry) Miron of Lebanon, Connecticut; William (Angie) Runyan of Hardy; sisters-in-law Dorothy Holtzen of Hebron and Cindy Dittmer of Bruning; and brother-in-law Denny Marquart of Fairmont; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Her funeral was held at 3 p.m., Monday, May 8, from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior with Pastor Brian Francik officiating.

Music was "Amazing Grace," "Go Rest High On That Mountain" and "When I'm Gone."

Pallbearers were Cody Effenbeck, Tyler Harding, Ryan Robbins, Dwayne Holtzen, Dalton Holtzen and Jed Williams.

Interment was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Courtland, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to go to the family.
