Rock Hills to send several to state track

 


The Rock Hills Grizzlies will be well represented when the state track and field championship meet gets underway Friday and continues on Saturday at Wicihta State University's Cessna Satdium.

Rock Hills hosted the 1A-2 regional track and field meet at Mankato Friday. This is the all or nothing qualifying meet for a place at the state meet in Wichita.

The Grizzlies faced off against teams from 27 other schools looking for places at the state meet.

The top four finishers, individuals or relay teams, earn a place at the state meet.

Hannah Simmelink is off to Wichita to compete in the girls 800 meter run. She finished second at the regional meet with her time of 2:29.88.

Nate Meyers punched his ticket for state with second place finish, with a distance of 20'2" for the long jump. Cooper McDill also qualified with his distance of 19'4" which put him in fourth place and a trip to the state meet. The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Kobi Bowers, Camden Ward, McDill and Trystyn Reynolds landed a third place finish and triple to Wichita with their time of 8:56.9.

Bethany Simmelink earned a sixth place finish in the final heat of the 100 meter dash. Grace Ayers ran a preliminary heat of the 100 meter dash but failed to advance.

B. Simmelink held sixth place in the 200 meter dash final heat with her time of 27.4 2 seconds.

Camden Ward, Rock Hills, qualified for state competition.

Hannah Simmelink earned a trip to state with her second place finish in the 800 meter run. She finished in seventh place in the 1600 meter run with her time of 6:10.73.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Halle Mizner, Savannah Coil, B. Simmelink and Ayers finished in sixth place with their time of 53.88 seconds.

Faith Reinert competed in the shot put and javelin throw.

Lauren Whelchel and H. Mizner competed in the high jump.

L. Whelchel claimed sixth place in the pole vault with her height of 8'6".

Kobi Bowers competed in the 800 meter run.

Trystyn Reynolds took part in the 3200 meter run.

Aaron Underwood participated in the shot put.

Wyatt Evert picked up sixth place in the javelin with his throw of 133'2".

Ward finished in fifth place in the high jump with his height of 5'8".
