L-N boys golf team takes fifth at state

The Lawrence-Nelson High School boys golf team had an impressive showing at the state Class-D golf tournament last Tuesday and Wednesday. The Raiders turned in a team score of 694 for the two-day, 36 hole match played over the par 72 Lake Maloney Golf Club course at North Platte. Teams from Pender, Overton, Loomis, Humphrey St. Francis, Neligh-Oakdale, Perkins County, Hitchcox County, Sandy Creek, Bridgeport. Elgin-Pope John, Elmwood-Murdock, Hartington-Newcastle, Hemingford and Burwell. Pender was crowned the state champion.

Toby Kotinek tied for 16th place in the individual standings with his score of 166. Krayton Kucera posted a total score of 172. Connor Janda finished with a total of 175. Jacob Kathman listed a score of 186. Bayln Bargen was in the club house with a score 196.

The four lowest individual scores make up the team score.

For seniors Kotinek and Kucera, it was their final match as a Raider. The team will have a large core of returning underclassmen next season. This should bode well for a return trip to North Platte.
