Lawrence EMT's and lifeguards, collaborated in a drill this past week. They had a patron pretend to drown, the lifeguards went to work to rescue the child, as the EMS were called. Once the child was pulled from the pool by the lifeguards, the EMT's then took over using a dummy. It was a good learning experience for both lifeguards and EMT's. The Lawrence Pool has been going in full swing since June 7. A coat of paint was put on the pool floor and allowed time to dry before opening. This season there are four full time lifeguards and five part time lifeguards. So far scheduling hasn't been too big of an issue. Although, it does get difficult when they all have camps or sports events at the same time!
The state inspector visited last week with an all in all good report. A few minor cement cracks are needing filled, and the diving board will need to be resurfaced in the near future. The plastic latch on the baby pool, that is require...
