L-N football opens with in-county rivalry

The Lawrence-Nelson High School football team opens the 2023 season with Nuckolls County bragging rights on the line.

The Raiders, coming of an 8-2 season, will be the favorites when they travel to Superior to tangle with the Superior Wildcats. Superior fell to Alma, 74-6, in their season opener.

The Raiders have a wealth of experienced players returning and they will be looking to make a deep push into the post season .

Senior class members Clay Williams, Bayln Bargen, Roy Davidson, AJ Koehler, Conner Janda, Nolan Ostdiek, Jacob Kathman and Nathan Elledge will be tasked with providing the necessary leadership.

Riley Cannaday, Carter Griffis, Cody Brockman, Aidan Zikmund and Will Schaefer bring experience as the junior class team members.

Caden Culbertson, Cody Funk, Cole Thompson, Nathan Profahl and Nathan Stokes represent the sophomore class.

Jayce Hoelting, Kaden Grahms, Jack Williams, Grahm Beck, Ace wolf, Gus Harrison, Brandt McLaughlin, Caleb Griffis and Kolten Johnson are the freshmen team members.

Brian Blevins serves as the head coach. Jerad Niederklein, Preston Hild, Decker Brown, Nolan Kawata, Josh Himmelberg and Dale Endorf act as assistant coaches. Will Dougherty is the media specialist. The student managers are Caleb Stokes, Colton Menke and Jasper Elledge.

Scheduled kickoff time is set for 7 p.m.
