The Lawrence-Nelson High School girls basketball team enters the 2023-2024 season with a new head coach. Dan Kennedy takes over from Andy Peterson.
The Raiders open the 2023-2024 season at Nelson Friday when they host Red Cloud. Arapahoe comes to Nelson Saturday.
The team faces another uphill battle for a post-season spot as their schedule is heavily weighted against them. They compete in D2. They will face 12 D1 schools, five D2 schools and one C2 school. This puts them at a disadvantage with gaining a spot in district play.
The team has three seniors on the roster: Sydney Biltoft, Danyelle Church and Jessica Sole.
The junior class members are Addi McCloskey, Brooklyn Combs-Glebe, Val Koehler, Hanna Skinner, Kara Menke, and Josie Hajny.
Harley Beale is the lone sophomore on the team.
Kennedy Beale, Paige Huston and Natalia Wehrman are the freshmen roster members.
Beth Himmelberg serves as the assistant coach.
Student managers are Bayleigh Bohlen and Ella Skinner.
The team compiled 6-17 record last season.
