Raider Wrestling wins one of three dual meets

January 25, 2024

The high school sport of wrestling has been affected by the 2023-24 winter weather just as most other activities in high schools across the state. However, on Jan. 18, the L-N Raiders got in three dual matches. They were with Superior, Harvard and Sandy Creek.

As with many of the state’s smaller schools who sponsor the sport of wrestling, there is not always enough participants to fill all the weight classes. The results are as follows:

L-N 24 – HARVARD 17: Harvard had only three boys in action at this meet. As such, four Raiders recorded points with forfeits. Six points each came from Grayhm Beck, 175 pound; Brandt McLaughlin, 190 pound; Nathan Elledge 285 pound and Noah Bardon 113 pound.

Leslie Corman at 150 pound and Augustus Harrison at 157 pounds lost in their first round matches.

L-N 24 – SANDY CREEK 30: The Raider’s match against Sandy Creek was very similar to the one against Harvard, however Sandy Creek pulled out wins over the two matches that were conducted. Augustus Harrison 165 pound, Grayhm Beck 175 pound, Noah Bardon 113 pound and Leslie Corman 144 pound all earned wins via byes. However, Nathan Elledge 285 pound and Brandt McLaughlin 190 pound both loss in their only matches of the meet.

L-N 24 – SUPERIOR 42: Superior filled eight of the weight divisions while L-N could fill only five and by adding up those three bye victories, Superior was able to score more points for their win. Individual results: Nathan Elledge 285 pounds and Noah Bardon 113 pounds received bye for L-N. Brandt McLaughlin 190 pounds won with a fall; Grayhm Beck 165 pounds won with a fall as well. Leslie Corman and Augustus Harrison both lost their matches.
