Gerald L. Schiermeyer, 98, of Seven Lakes and formerly Warrenton, Virginia, died at the FirstHealth Hospice House on Friday, Feb. 2. Born in Superior, Aug. 6, 1925, he was the son of the late William and Martha (Grummert) Schiermeyer.

After his high school graduation from a one room schoolhouse, Gary went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the family farm in Nebraska and soon attended the University of Nebraska, earning his bachelor of science in agriculture in 1956.
