At 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, at the Mankato Community Center, Katie Harbert, Jewell County Community Development’s Dane G. Hansen intern, will give her final report to the community.

Throughout the summer, some of Harbert’s main activities have been working with the Jewell County Community Foundation board and coordinating an educational campaign about the foundation; engaging with local communities on education about and implementation of land banks and developing an education guide about land bank programs as a resource for communities considering starting a land bank; developing concepts for increasing tourism in Jewell County related to the rich mammoth history in the area; creating an educational campaign about the Rural and Remote program; and collaborating with community stakeholders to determine the local market for a Droneport location in Jewell County.

Droneports are new to the aviation industry. Droneports provide a fixed or mobile locations for the housing, maintenance, fueling and piloting of commercial fleets of drones.
