COVID-19 has changed many things including the Christmas shopping season for patrons of the Superior stores. Shoppers are still welcome and encouraged but plans have been changed to reduce the personal contact. Once upon a time planners were delighted to have large crowds of people downtown during the holiday season. Often prize drawings drew large crowds, the biggest was probably about 80 years ago when a new Ford automobile was given away.

This year members of the Superior Chamber of Commerce have joined to decorate and offer for sale to the highest bidder a number of holiday wreaths. With people out of work this year, the proceeds from the wreath sale will go to the Nuckolls County Food Pantry.

The following now have decorated wreaths on display and will be accepting bids through Dec. 4.

Cole & Co., Dave’s Place, Eitzmann Trucking, Farmers & Merchants Bank, Glenwood Telecommunications, GTA, Home Federal Bank, Ideal Market, Kenny’s Lumber & Farm Supply, Nifty Thrifty, Scott’s Sales & Service, Sidney Price Rokusek and Keller Williams Real Estate, Solutions Salon & Day Spa, State Farm Insurance, Superior Church of Christ, Superior Pharmacy, United Methodist Church, Zerona Body and Zoltenko Farms.

Again this year the Superior merchants will hold drawings for Superior Bucks. The first drawing will be Monday when the names of four winners will be drawn. Each will receive 50 Superior Bucks. Shoppers receive a registration slip each time they visit a Superior store.

To open Candy Cane Lane on Friday, Nov. 27, the chamber is sponsoring a cruise night. Participants are to line up east along Fourth Street, starting at Central to cruise the town and tour Lincoln Park’s Candy Cane Lane. Brodstone Memorial Hospital will be downtown serving a grab and go meal that evening.
