Giving Tree serves record number

December 31, 2020

The Nuckolls County Human Interagency Services team reported this year’s Giving Tree was a success with more families requesting gifts this year than any other prior year. And thanks to many supporters the requests were met.

Superior Pharmacy, Dollar General, Brodstone Memorial Hospital, the Nelson Post Office and Farmers & Merchants Bank in Lawrence displayed tags and collected the returned gifts. Student Council and FBLA members from Superior High School wrapped the food boxes and gifts and organized the returned gifts. The Senior Leadership team at Brodstone Memorial Hospital helped in filling the boxes with food. Hospital employees also shopped for gifts, wrapped presents and helped with the distribution of food boxes and other gifts.

Many area residents supported the Giving Tree, Toys for Tots, and Coats for Kids programs. Sylvia Crilly organized the Coats for Kids.

The generosity shown throughout Nuckolls County provided nearly 100 families across the county with Christmas gifts and food through the Giving Tree project.

Donations for the Giving Tree are accepted all year and can be given to Verlene Watson at Brodstone Memorial Hospital or sent to the Giving Tree, P.O. Box 271, Superior, Neb.
