Superior Wildcats fall to Sutton

February 25, 2021

Superior traveled to Sutton Friday night to end their regular season schedule. Sutton gained a 15 to 6 lead after the first quarter by hitting three 3-point shots in a row. Sutton extended their lead to 28 to 12 at the half. Turnovers plagued the Wildcats in the first half, committing 14.

“Turnovers killed us in that first half. We have been working on moving the basketball and we decided to over dribble causing too many turnovers,” said Coach Chadwell.

Superior cut into the lead a couple times, but each time Sutton responded. “Sutton is a good basketball team. We made too many mistakes on both ends of the floor to make it competitive. We didn’t defend the three-point line well. And we didn’t play fundamental defense. We have a tendency to relax on defense and Sutton attacks that. The good news is we play them again in five days. If we can correct the simple things and play basketball the correct way. We can make it a heck of a game on Tuesday,” said Coach Chadwell.

The final score was Sutton 70, Superior 37. Dane Miller led scoring for Superior with 19. The Cats travel to Sutton again on Tuesday to take on the Mustangs in a subdistrict match up.
