There is a reason for everything. It is just we don’t always know the reasons.

I bring this up this week because in the middle of last week, I received a phone call. It was the “Federal Marshall’s Service.”

I was told my name came up in an investigation and they wanted to talk to me. If I would just push the number 1 on the phone, they would connect me to a real live person who would talk to me about their concerns.

By now, I realize this was a recording talking to me. I was told by the recording that if I should delete the call without talking to them, I would be opening myself up to some problems I didn’t want.

Well, I decided to take the chance and I hung up the phone. I like to live dangerously. (That’s a joke folks.)

OK, the next day, Nancy got a phone call from the “Police” asking for a donation to help them in their many benevolent activities. She hung up on them as well.

Why do I bring this all up ? ? ?

Were these phone calls just random, or were they connected in some weird way. Just in case Nancy, or I, end up disappearing from the scene, please contact the Federal Marshalls or some police department to see if we were apprehended and are being held someplace.

This story doesn’t end there, however.

At about this same time, a friend sent me an email with the heading of “Contemplation.”

Now, that word caught my attention. I’ve always thought I knew what the word meant, but I looked it up in the dictionary just to be sure. From the dictionary: “a state of mystical awareness of God’s being;” or “an act of considering with attention.”

I read through the following and decided I should keep them, just in case those Federal Marshalls come for me. I would have something to read and think about while being held in one of their jails someplace.

We have all read quotes of all kinds in the past. The following instill a bit of humor, but most all can give us something to think about if we consider them “with attention.”

Something else came to my attention last week and this thought was included in a little discussion on “reason.”

We live at a time when God-Religion is not considered reasonable. I suspect not a whole lot of people spent much time in “Contemplation” these days. But read those quotes above, besides the obvious humor in most, there is a certain amount of “reasonableness” included. A certain amount of “common sense.”

To quote from a recent item I have read: “When the world thinks it has everything figured out, listen to what our politicians say. Listen to their speeches. And when they say things like: “we’re going to spend trillions of dollars and fix all of our nation’s problems,” does that sound reasonable? Does that sound like it’s going to work? Or does it scare the heck out of you?”

Life is interesting . . . don’t let the pain and suffering outweigh the joy and laughter.

Contemplate . . . “consider things with attention.”

I’m going to enjoy the quotes above in good times and bad.
