Love my crazy life

A friend of mine asked me how many hats I would be wearing this summer, and I couldn’t answer. In the last week, I served as a painter, photographer, babysitter, pool boy, quasi reporter, caregiver, manager, a crummy housewife and neglectful mother and friend. Honestly, it has been a blur, and I haven’t been able to remember what day it was for most of it. I run into the house just to run right back out of it, and by the end of the day, I don’t feel like I have accomplished a thing.

This morning I drug myself out of bed at five! I’m not a morning person in the least bit, but I had promised I would help put out flags for Memorial Day. So after waking a grumpy teenager and drinking about half a pot of coffee, that is what my not-so-perky self did. Not sure how much help I was, but I was there.

For better or worse, the pool opened today. I am genuinely an unorganized mess this year. I’m thankful for the cooler temperatures that allow us to take baby steps into this season. Every year we have issues with our vacuum, and this year is no exception. I hope we can get it running soon. You can see every speck of dirt on the bottom of the pool.

Our Omaha boys have been here this week and have had the pleasure of seeing me for a grand total of like, four hours. We managed to get in a game of H-O-R-S-E and a little one-on-one basketball at the park Saturday evening. Nicky is the only one who will play with me. George and the older kids say I’m too competitive and I cheat. I say what I lack in ability, I make up for in fouls! I never really learned to play any sport, and I have never been athletic in the least bit. Dad said if there was a ball anywhere on the playground, it would find my head. My dad fixed many broken pairs of glasses during my grade school years!

This week, I hope for a bit of a slow down before I end up in a “Hug-me-Coat.” My bestie promised to put shiny rhinestones on it for me when the day comes. I think everyone has bets on when that day will be. A padded room might be kinda nice! LOL! X’s & O’s!
