Show showcases local talent

Paul Hutchinson accompanied himself on the guitar as he sang "Grandma's Feather Bed" and "In the Highway in Heaven," at the Superior Community Variety Show, Saturday evening. Steph Thayer (left) sang "Making Believe," "Proud Mary" and "Amazing Grace" as her father, Rob Williams, accompanied her on the guitar. Parker Littrell sang "Orange Colored Sky" at the Superior Community Variety Show at the Superior Auditorium, Saturday evening.

Saturday evening the Superior Community Variety Show took the stage at the Superior Auditorium. All were volunteers and the admission price was a donation toward the continuing auditorium restoration.

At the opening of the program, Beverly Beavers, president of Superior Historic Redevelopment, the non-profit corporation that now owns the auditorium reported on the restoration process, The next priority item is the refinishing of the main hall floor. Other items on the list include tuck pointing the building and purchasing a sound system.

The sound system used Saturday evening was on loan from John Price Jr. For those who remember the auditorium's once deplorable acoustics, major acoustical progress has been made since the restoration project was started.

Lynette Bartley served as the master of ceremonies.

Performers as the title of their pieces included:

Holly Beavers singing "Ain't She Sweet" and "Someone to Watch Over Me."

Parker Littrell wows the Superior Variety Show audience as she dances to "Places We Won't Walk."

Kelsea Blevins singing "Strawberry Wine" and "Baby Girl."

Carson Beavers sang "Misty."

Paul Hutchinson sang "Grandma's Feather Bed" and "In the Highway in Heaven" and accompanied himself on the guitar.

Parker Littrell sang "Orange Colored Sky" and danced to "Places We Won't Walk."

Carlita Price and Beverly Beavers played two duets, "Lonely Goatherd" and "Edelweiss" on an electronic keyboard. They also teamed up on the "Beer Barrel Polka." Beavers played the bones and Price the keyboard.

A father-daughter combination, Steph Thayer and Rob Williams presented "Making Believe," "Proud Mary" and "Amazing Grace." Williams also sang "Farmer's Blues" and "Hey Good Looking: while playing his guitar.

Neah McMeen sang "Everything I Didn't Say."
